5th Magnitogorsk Materials Week Conference dedicated to the memory of prof. Alexander Zhilyaev is over.
The Program Committee pleased to welcome you at the 5th Magnitogorsk Materials Week Conference!
Conference papers after reviewing will be published in the special issue of Materials Letters devoted to “Mechanics and Physics of Gradient Nanomaterials” (https://www.journals.elsevier.com/materials-letters/call-for-papers). Journal is included in Scopus (Q1) and Web of Science (Q2).
The overall objective of this special issue will be to collect together the scientific thoughts leading to new innovations from a fundamental point of view and possible practical applications as structural materials and in many cases to use their novel functionalities. The direction of scientific research is physics and mechanics of gradient, bimodal and heterogeneous metal nanomaterials of increased strength and plasticity for promising structural applications.
It is planned to discuss the problems of realizing the directed creation of gradient materials with functionally important properties, obtaining coatings that contribute to the appearance of valuable properties that are attractive for innovative applications. It is also planned to discuss the consideration of new approaches to establishing correlations in the composition-structure-properties series and the possibility of using the obtained data for solving materials science problems. The overall objectives of this research are the development of fundamental mechanics and physics of gradient nanomaterials, the development of scientific principles for the preparation of new bulk gradient nanomaterials with high mechanical and functional properties, as well as the development of nanostructured coatings for promising structural and functional applications in engineering and medicine.
Leading experts dealing with bulk gradient nanomaterials materials will be invited to contribute to this special issue. The special issue will be dedicated to the memory of Prof. Alexander Zhilyaev, a great scientist and famous specialist in the field of gradient nanomaterials. Prof. Zhilyaev was associated primarily with the Institute for Superplasticity Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Ufa and more recently he was appointed Director of the Laboratory "Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials" at Magnitogorsk Technical University. Unfortunately, our friend and colleague Prof. Zhilyaev passed away on November 20, 2020.
